Oliver first nappy

Mum was always good with kids but I think she always truly wanted grandchildren. When Kirsty became pregnant I remember we told them while going for a coffee at Costa. Having never had a daughter we invited her to be there at the birth and she was over the moon.

Kirsty had previous experience of babies with her little nephew and said she'd show me everything I needed to know. When it came to the birth mum came with us and was an absolute rock for both of us through the 22 hours it took Oliver to come into the world. She kept us both calm and even snuggled on the bed with Kirsty to watch eastenders on the ipad.

Her resounding saviour moment was when Oliver was born. Kirsty was quite unwell so they handed Oliver to me and said put a nappy on him. I remember holding him thinking "how the hell do I do that, Kirsty was going to show me". Mum took one look at me and took Oliver from my hands and put his first nappy on.

Ever since that moment she has been his favourite person in the world. I will always miss hearing him shout "Nanny!" At the top of his lungs. He will always love you and he misses you so much, we all do.
